I was initially co-opted to the Area XI committee in the late 90’s to collate/produce the hard copy Newsletters and then when NPS & BSPS split, I was asked to stand for the committee, was duly elected and the rest is history. My first role on the committee was taking over the role as general secretary from Chris Philips, and this was a hard act to follow.

After a few years, David Puttock advised his retirement NPS Area XI treasurer and I took over this role alongside that of general secretary. Several committee members came and went, seeing Rodger & myself adding the role of joint show secretaries’ pre-IT to our list of roles on the committee. Then with an influx of interest in the Area XI committee and new people joining the committee tasks reduced.
I am vice chairman of Area XI, third time in the post, plus assist with our young judge training, I enjoy seeing a continued interest in the Area and was alongside our committee delighted to welcome four new members to the team at our 2023 AGM.
I started riding at 4, always having to include seeing/riding ponies on family holidays. At 13 I had my first pony. My second pony kindled my interest in breeding British Riding Ponies under the Chasecroft prefix, I have successfully shown these and M&M’s to national level.
I’ve served on NPS Council and been a co-opted Council Member for periods since 2006. I am currently on sub-committees promoting the Society as well as judging and stewarding for NPS, having just given up the role of NPS Chief Steward after 17 years. For me, I get my enjoyment giving back and seeing grass roots people come through to achieve, whilst enjoying their ponies in whatever capacity.
