Secretary

Hi, my name is Jayne McAuliffe and I am secretary of NPS Area XI and have been for many years now.

I am responsible for taking the minutes of meetings, the last couple of years Chris Graham and I have organised the Christmas lunch and AGM and generally mucking in to help with the running of the show and anything else required in the smooth running of the Area.

I had my first pony at the age of 5, he was a Welsh Sec A , called Smokey and he knew far more than I did right up until the end of his very long life. For all his tricks and quirks, he taught me a love of all things equine, which remains with me still. Having progressed through riding clubs via show jumping and cross country, we discovered the NPS in 1984 having purchased a Welsh Sec D foal at the cob sales in Builth. Excited by all the competitions on offer, our showing career took off. Hewid Arthur or Thomas as he was known at home, gave us so many highlights culminating with a trip to HOYS before he retired in 2002. We owned every section of Welsh pony over the next few years and enjoyed our showing immensely.

I then began to get involved in the admin side of shows, being show secretary for the NCPA for 6 years, running both the Spring Show and the Pony of the Year, whilst also serving as secretary for NCPA Derbyshire. In 2013 I successfully ran for the NPS Council and served for a total of 9 years, 2 of which I served as Chairman. Although not presently a trustee, I am still vice chair of show committee and continue to do whatever I can to promote and serve the National Pony Society.
